OK, here's a thread with fingers crossed that we keep it civil.

What are your thoughts on the situation in Israel, and Palestine? How do you think the peace effort/negotiations are going? Are you optimistic/pessimistic?

you might say I'm not fair, since I live here, but...
I wish there was peace, I hope that now with the change of leadership, maybe something will finally come out of the peace talks.I try to keep optimistic, I hope I will not be let- down again.
I believe that in most, the simple people want peace. they want a home, a place to raise their children, work to provide food and shelter. Of course the minority that does all the noise is all one sees on TV, but their beliefs are not the majority, in my opinion.
I wish that the silent majority will lead these peace talks to achivement.
I would be a blessing.

Thank you for your response, Anat.

Do you think that the majority of ppl will be able to impress their needs upon the leaders; or do you think that the peace process is doomed to fall into the same rut as Oslo?

And, what about the rest of you? What's your opinion?

The main problem is- minority makes lots of noise. I don't know what it takes to get the majority to get off their couch and do something.
I do believe that if a country wide survey was done and people would come and vote, that it would be seen that the majority wants peace. But as in the elections, there are low pecentage of votings, and that's bad, since then the minority can speak up.
I do believe the leaders are heading in the right direction, as long as there isn't anything "beneath the surface" that we don't know about.
The meeting in Sharem A- Sheich today, hopefully will lead to the beginning of peace between Israel and the Palestinians. I hope they will get their state and we will have a new neighboring country, Just so that things will start moving.
Here's hoeing!

I have to be honest: I do not share your optimism. But, I try to keep an open mind.

Even a flawed, fractured communications process is better than nothing at all.
