Hello:
It has been several years since I last had the opportunity to train formally...but lately whenever I close my eyes and let my mind dance its usually engaging in some move I fondly recall learning. I'm taking this as a sign that I'd like to start training again....
Unfortunately (in terms of training) I live in a pretty rural area of northeast Vermont on the border with New Hampshire. Saint Johnsbury, VT and Littleton, NH are the two largest population centers nearby. Although the area offers all one could hope for in terms of scenic beauty, quality of life and outdoor activities, the area is sadly lacking an Aikido dojo. Apparently there was a training center a bit south of here, but that closed several years ago. There are other martial art forms being taught- karate and tae kwan do (neither form havingmuch appeal for me.)
I'm wondering if a) anyone reading knows of a dojo/teacher in northeast Vermont b) anyone reading this is in the same geographical boat I'm in and would be interested in forming a club of some sort and c) tips/ideas on training solo while I sort all this out (seems like most ki exercises can be practiced solo, but I'd be interested in hearing other ideas as well....)
Thanks for your time!

Woodstock, VT close to you? Shobu Aikido....
Hi Bob,
Has the AikiWeb Dojo Search Engine turned out anything for you in your area?

Hope that helps,

After I posted my messsage I discovered the dojo search...each of the ones listed are at least an hour drive, and as much as I miss the mat I may have to wait until after winter leavse before I can commit to that distance through the mountains...I appreciate the feed back though. Any suggestions on solo training until then, or fellow Vermonters/Granite State-ers in my area interested in a club...?

Hi Bob,
Greetings from southern Vermont. I'm not sure long it would take to drive to Montpelier, but I think there is still a dojo there. If you are very passing through Brattleboro, please stop by.
Best of Luck,
Don Hebert
