hello everyone,

My name is Emilia, however thanks to a former partner I tend to go by the name emi which tends to be a rather popular Japanese name. I'm a 19 year old Sophomore attending the University of Minnesota-Duluth. I have been practicing Aikido for about a year. I originally began in a class here at school & enjoyed it so much I decided to further my aiki. I currently belong to The Northern Lights Seidokan Dojo in Duluth, MN. I train under Sensai Frank Guldbrandsen. I have recently earned my gokyu rank, which I'm just thrilled about. Does anyone know of a seidokan dojo in the twin cities? I tried the dojo search here but came up with a whole lotta nothin'. Um I'm not sure whatelse to say so, ask ?'s if ya got 'em.

Hey Emi,

WOOHOO!! Another Seidokanian :D We're taking over

I've never had the chance to get up to MN and train with Bergeron Sensei but Shane Lewis and some of his folks from Northland Aikido in Chaska have been down to Michigan for summer camp and seminars....good fun :D If you ever feel like making a road trip to SW Michigan feel free to stop in and see us :)

yeah I haven't done much with burgeron sensai either, mostly just working in the dojo here at UMD. however he has done 1 seminar (I guess that's what you'd call it) here working with the Jo & Boken. it was rather informational & I learned more than other students in my normal introductory class would. when is the seminar in sw Mich.? I'll be attending a friends seminar in Omaha, Nebraska so it'll be a rather busy summer.

I know it's waaaay late to respond to this, but I was a student of Bergeron and Guldbrandsen sensei for the years I was in college, with very fond memories.

You are VERY welcome to visit us in Burnsville or Hudson Wi, www.midwestaikido.com . It isn't a Seidokan group anymore, but you will not find it difficult to see the similarities. :) Bergeron sensei may be able to help you decide if that is true (drop my name if you like).

In addition, Rob Frankovich also runs a place in the Brooklyn Park/Center area, http://www.sparrowinstitute.org/ .

Again, ask Bergeron or Guldbrandsen sensei for help if you are still doing what you do. :)

Wow Phil that sounds great! I'm home for the summer & have been taking a bit of a break from mostly everything, enjoying the family & friends here at home, however I would certainly enjoy stopping by sometime to train with you. the closest dojo to my house right now is the twin cities aikido on University but it's always fun to see what others have to offer, & always an interesting learning experience.
