Okay, other than the President, most people from Texas don't sound like that but I just had to say it. My name is Phil Farmer and I have been practicing Yoseikan Budo for 12 years. I have my own dojo in Nacogdoches, Texas (the oldest town in Texas) and am located 130 miles north of Houston and 90 miles South southwest of Shreveport, La.
I am currently the Vice - President of the U.S.Y.B.A. and have been an officer of the organization for the last 6 years. I am also a board member of the Yoseikan World Federation. As part of my Yoseikan classes I also use Pilates and SportYoga to develop strenght and balance. As you will note from time to time, I have spent a long time researching Yoseikan and love to write about it and correct misconceptions or provide information.
Away from the mat I am your run of the mill social worker with two advanced degrees and 27 years of experience as a therapist. All of that and about $5 will get me a bowl of chili here in Texas. Look forward to having good conversations with all.

Hi Phil,
Sport Yoga? Sounds like fun.
Shreveport LA, reminds me of my enlisted days at Ft. Polk.
Welcome to the forums!

Hi Phil,
Don't get much of Yoseikan news around at this web. Glad to have someone of your caliber to talk abt this style. Going on to read you post now.
Sincerely,
Boon.

Wotcha Phil, have fun here - glad there's a new style in town...(yes I am joking)
Peter, Larry, what d'you reckon on the shodothug -> aiki-fruity scale? Style says thug tendancies, but at least Phil's "other life" means he makes his victims feel good about themselves afterwards, so I'm kinda torn.

Ian,
We have an instructor in London. You can find his address on our Yoseikan World Federation website. Issell would be glad to have you visit. Or, if you are in Ireland sometime we have an instructor there as well.

Hey Ian,
My comment was not meant in any sort of challenging way, I promise. I hate this computer because it does not show any emotion. I just read your message and it seemed like you weren't sure about what Yoseikan does, so I referred you to the only two people I know of in the UK that do Yoseikan. Issell is a great guy, who by day is a physical therapist, so whatever he breaks (nod, nod, wink, wink,) he can fix. Seriously, I get so many questions by people who have not heard of Yoseikan or have mis-information that I just try, sometimes too hard, to steer them in the right direction. My students don't know when they are unhappy or in pain, see I also practice hypnotherapy. It is mind over matter: I don't mind if it hurts and so it doesn't matter. (wink, wink, nod, nod)

Welcome Phil! I had the pleasure of meeting Phil and one of his instructors from Beaumont at our seminar in Houston. I think you all will find Dr. Farmer a very open minded gentleman. Even though we are Aikikai, he took the time to drive down and encouraged the Yoseikan instructors in the area to attend our seminar.
Best wishes,

Ian,
The fellow's name is Izzell Barbosa. He has an address in Surbiton, Surrey. I hope that means something to you, it might as well be greek to me. His email is izzel@tinyworld.co.uk. I hope this helps.
And, Bronson, I practice a Japanese based martial art, I thought I was not supposed to smile! :D
For Bryce, check out the website of the Yoseikan World Federation, I think at www.yoseikan-budo.com. They have some good video there. And, just call it Nacanowhere, that works.

Phil, thanks (yes, surbiton makes sense... mutters about deepest darkest outskirts of London). New Years resolution, go make a fool of myself in other people's dojos, should be a laugh
