I want to know is there any difference between the Mukae Daoshi from Yoseikan Aikido (also Aiki-Budo and Yosinkan) and the Irimi Nage from Aikikai ?
Thanks

As far as I can remember there is no technique in yos[h]inkan called 'Mukae Daoshi'...I do know of a Daito ryu technique (karuma daoshi I think) that at least has the Daoshi part...but for the life of me I can't connect the name to the kata right now! That's what I get for not training enough...

Oh !
Sorry, Mukae Daoshi is from Yoseikan Aikido and Aiki-Budo probably not from Yoshinkan...

Hi, Ron.
KURUMA DAOSHI (Wheel Throw Down) looks like OSOTO GARI from YOKOMENUCHI (Juan came back from Japan calling YOKOMENUCHI KESA GIRI).

Exactly! and exactly the point...
The funny thing is Don, I described the technique reasonably well in a post to George, but couldn't have named it for my life...and I wasn't sure at the time that I wasn't confusing two separate techniques. So I checked it before leaving for work this morning :)

The differences are fairly minor. They are both "more or less" the same technique. How you enter and unbalance changes a bit, but, you could look at the same technique and call it Mukae Daoshi (confronting push down) or Irimi Nage depending on which style you take or are familiar with.
