Hello,
My name is Tomke and I am a social anthropologist learning aikido Iwama ryu for one year now. I found out about the AikiWeb here in Japan where I stay for 5 weeks on work, because I wanted to find a dojo where the Iwama ryu style is teached. Even in Japan this is not easy to find, apart from Iwama itself of course.
I am 43 years old and married. I practice normally in Liege, Belgium, in the Iwama no Micho dojo. My sensei is David Vendrame who studies with Daniel Toutain (6th dan, Rennes (France)).
Some of my favorite hobbies are gardening and photography. I have also two fotologs (http://www.fotolog.net/tomke and http://www.fotolog.net/lask) where I show my garden and my pictures from the countries I am or where I was.
I travel a lot for my work and I always try to find a dojo where I am to practice. I have already done this in Belo Horizonte (Brazil) and in London and with a little luck I will do it here in Japan too.
Talk to you all soon.
P.S. As I am used to the fact that my name induces into error about my gender, just this: I am a woman and not, as you have most probably thought, a man.
Hi Tomke,
Welcome, and thank you for your introduction!
