Hi all,

I am new to Aikido and Martial arts in general and have been training in Shodokan Aikido for about a month. I live near Himeji in Japan and originally come from Wellington, New Zealand. Looks like there is a good community here so I hope to learn from you all and share some experiences.
Yoroshiku!

Another one of Peter's minions has joined. His army is growing :)

Welcome aboard, enjoy the training, and if Peter gets a glassy-eyed stare in his eyes and starts talking about about world domination again, just give him a smack in the back of the head. He'll be fine in a few minutes. :D

Hey I can't believe I missed the entry of a new Shodokan member on Aikiweb. This is what happens when one trains too much and surfs less.:p

Welcome to the forums Sarah, I hope you enjoy it here. One more person to speak up for truth, justice, good beer, tanto randori and competition in Aikido.:)

Now we got somebody to give us the scoop on what happens behind the scenes at Himeji Shodokan as well. muahahhhahahahha:p

Peter, you must be thrilled.:D

Where's Ian, he must be losing count of the number of Shodo thugs here (not that you are a thug Sarah).:)

(not that you are a thug Sarah).:)

As Sarah is a newbie she is only a thug by association. As her training in thuggery continues she will undoubtedly attain the position of a shodo-thug proper.

:) :D ;)

Bronson (who really likes the word "thuggery")

Thanks for the warm words of welcome :)
I now feel well and truely at home amongst the 'Thugs of Aikiweb'! :D

Larry - I have only two things to add to your list of "truth, justice, good beer, tanto randori and competition in Aikido" - Ofuro (bathing) after practice and sushi! Obviously these rank well below things like truth and justice in the grand scheme of things. ;)

Ahh yes, bathing after practice, a great but foreign concept.:p I think I need some more training time in that since my beer waza practice (after class) often acts as a deterrent to good post-class Ofuro waza practice.:)

Sushi waza happens like once a month here, it's pretty expensive but is really good. I even think Shishida Shihan liked it.:) Of course I have to get over a bad experience I had with some home made sushi (trying to cut costs) before I can take Ukemi for good sushi again. :hypno:

As a matter of fact I think I'm going into Wasabi withdrawal symptoms these days. :freaky:

Have fun training.
