I just started ki aikido and i was curious if you can practice ki aikido outside the dojo... ALONE!!!
Usually you need a person to test your ki but if you don`t have that person ?! there must be some way to develop your coordination...extending ki, etc

According to Mochizuki Sensei, the more we rely on intellectualization to learn, the more stupid we become. That is why he has been discouraging his students from learning with books and tapes. It's only through experience that we can internalize knowledge. After that, it's all right to use books and other media.

That's what Ki breathing exercises are for. The 3 min Toitsu Taiso (http://www.geocities.com/Tokyo/Dojo/1804/soa1/soa1-5.html#toitsutaiso) and Relax Taiso (http://www.geocities.com/Tokyo/Dojo/1804/soa2/soa2-3.html#relax) are for also.

You may also want to learn some tai chi which is more alone-friendly than most of the ki tests which are, after all, intended to enhance your technique rather than be a separate entity in it's own right.

search engines are not as good as you think....
For example i found aiki web with google but never heard of new jersey ki society virtual dojo website before ... and i think it`s a GREAT website ...

just an idea, forgive me if i'm wrong... all of us are using our ki in our daily life, even for those who are not playing aikido, they are using it and don't know that was the ki, of course all we have to do is discover it and develop...

the idea is very clear... that you can do or use your ki outside the dojo... if you have the idea on how to do it, then you can do it outside the dojo... anywhere you want...

Radu was experiencing a not uncommon problem with aikido which extends to both ki and standard aikido practice- how to train without a partner.

Quite frankly, I get very tired that every time Ki exercises are mentioned, there is at least one post (if not more) which offers absolutely no practical help on how to "do or use your ki", just some strange kung-fu style meanderings.

If this was in the spiritual thread, I'd leave your posts alone, but this is about training, so would your please offer some advice or even personal experiences which may help or just not post. Thanks ever so in advance

You can have a look at Tohei Sensei ( funder of ki aikido ) book "Ki in daily life" ( list of exercises you can alone ), it gives advices on stretching, ki tests, "oneness exercises" you can practice at home.
It gives you some background behind why using ki exercises.

You can also...( for ki and aikido development...)
Get a big mirror, do some exercise and check yourself in the mirror: are you too forward, backward, putting your weight all on one side or centered, ... ( if you are starting, may be hard to be able to judge if your position is good or not :D )

if you have a boken/wooden sword, you can practice lifting and cutting with it too. Mind the ceiling.

Take some notes after aikido practice. At home, close your eyes, and go through the motions again and again.

In the street, people walking toward you, imagine what to do if the push/punch/grab you...

And the best way...go to more seminars, courses, and ask your sensei.

Ah, and ki breathing is very important too. Practiced daily, or as often as possible, it helps.

IMHO, you can practice all the exercises and movement offered in class solo, alone, at home.

Its probably more about the training than the testing anyway.

There is nothing more interesting than the simple training, its all hiding right there in plain sight if you training with enough sensitivity to find it.

Here's what I normally do: remember correct posture and the feeling of extending ki? Try to apply that in what ever you do... sitting. standing, picking up something, driving, holding the phone, talking to someone, doing hand shake, etc. As long as you apply the correct feeling of being mind-and-body coordinated (this feeling should be tested in class) in everything that you do, this will add on to the improvement of your ki training. I've been at it for just a little over three years now. There are a few ki aikido practitioners here who's been doing it for much much longer than I have. Plus one on Craig's: Ki Breathing, Toitsu Taiso, and Relax Taiso.
