Hi all...

I'm kind of an Aikikai "ronin" currently living in Salt Lake City, training as a guest with a group here at the University of Utah.

I've been training 15 years now, starting in the Bay Area with Hideki Shiohira Sensei (Pacific Aikido Federation), and then going to Japan for 8 years (most of the Clinton Administration :) ) I lived in Tokyo and trained primarily at Asahi Aikikai, the company aikido club of the Asahi Shimbun newspaper, although I have ties with other groups in Japan, and have done quite a bit of the aikitourist thing :)

I've been in Utah for almost 5 years, and am currently an MA student in linguistics at the University of Utah.

Yorosiku onegai simasu.

Hey David,

Good to see you here! Hope you're doing well.

In case people don't know, David has done some great work for aikido language studies with his website, "Dave's Roman-Japanese Aikido Lexicon":

http://www.ne.jp/asahi/dji/home/aikilex/

You'll find his Aikido Lexicon in PDF format there. Good stuff!

Welcome!

Thanks for the plug, Jun. As a matter of fact I've already established my presence in the Language forum

Too bad I won't be seeing you at the Summer Camp in the Rockies this year, but I hope to make it out to Boulder for Saotome Sensei's appearance at the Halloween seminar.

Now, I'll have to see about choosing a good avatar for myself for these forums...

Hey, I've been using your lexicon for a while now :) Thanks for that and welcome to the forums.

Thank you for using and enjoying it. It always makes me feel good to see that there are others using it than just the very few I actually hear from.

See you around.
