I'm fairly sure I introduced myself last fall when I began lurking here, but just in case, since I'm going to make what might be my first real post, Hi! I train in an ASU dojo in Richmond, where I began last August and currently hold a rokkyu. Still pretty much the newbie, but just beginning to deal with being a semi-sempai, if you will; our mat is weighted heavily toward the mid-kyu range in most classes, and we have a beginners program that has created a fairly steady stream of totally new folks who look to me for help when we train together...
How many polite ways are there to say "Look, I don't know this stuff much better than you do, so let's just see what we can come up with"?
Anyway, see y'all around the forums and perhaps on the mat sometime!
Cheers,
Jim

Hi Jim,
Welcome, and thank you for your introduction!

I'd say, "onegaishimasu" is a good start...

I was thinking maybe a tattoo... But where do you put it so it's usefully visible? If I go for the wrist, then it's only really good for katate tori attackers. Back of the neck would be useful for ushiro but not much else. Anywhere under the gi is obviously useless. Forehead is great for shomenuchi and for general visibilty, but might be a little more prominent that I'd like...
Always good to have something important to ponder ;-)
