View Full Version : Hello to ALL!
Hey all!
I'm new to the forums. I've been studying Aikido at University of California Riverside with Bash Sensei since the beginning of the school year. The first thing I have to say is I love it. I first saw Aikido demonstrated on the discovery channel about how they use the opponents energy against them. I was thrilled by the concept and was even more thrilled when I found it was taught at my University.
At first I was amazed simply at the techniques and seeing people fly across the mat. Now I can proudly say I now aspire for more important goals than simply making people fly, but to become a well rounded person with good core values and the dedication and discipline to train hard. (I also love to be thrown :D). I passed my 5th kyu test last quarter, and over the summer I might train in San Diego with Chiba Sensei if I get my internship :p
After searching the web, I found this forum to be the most stimulating. To me this will be a great place to get different points of view, tips, philosophy, and who knows what. I am a firm believer of the powers of learning both through experience and by book. I hope I can contribute useful information in productive discussions in my journey of Aikido and of life.
Again hey all,
Hara

Hi, and welcome!
If somebody had told me that being thrown is just as much a thrill as throwing, I think I'd have said they were crazy. But it sure is. (The first time I took a full-speed forward roll from a throw I embarrassed myself completely by shouting "whee!" so loud everyone stopped to look.)

Hi Brent,
Welcome to the AikiWeb Forums and thank you for your introduction. When I stopped by San Diego Aikikai, I had a great time. There are also other good dojo in San Diego, too; the city seems to be turning into a very nice area for aikido these days!
