Caring for weapons

I've recently bought a white oak jo and bokken. With previous weapons I've sanded off some of the varnish and used teak oil, can I do the same with white oak of will it stain?

I'm not really sure, but make sure that you store your weapons laying down flat. If you have them standing up, they will warp.

I don't know about teak oil, but I've read that others on the forum use olive oil on their weapons. I've used Scott's Liquid Gold on everything from antique/fine furniture to my own weapons It really makes the beauty of the wood come through while keeping the wood from becoming dry and brittle.
