Why do some websites list Kiyoyuki Terada as a co-founder of Yoshinkan aikido when I've never seen or read this anywhere else?Could someone help me clear this up, or get me pointed in the right direction.

Contact Steven Miranda through email or his profile on this site. He may very well have a detailed answer for you. I've often heard of Terada Sensei being a co-founder as well...

According to Stan Pranin's Aikido Encyclopedia, Terada sensei is listed as having started Aikido in 1951 under K. Ueshiba at the Honbu Dojo. He is now 9th Dan in Yoshinkan style Aikido.

I have a question as well, whatever happened to O'Sensei's student who only practiced shihonage?

He has been reincarnated as me. It was a running joke at my dojo that I would (could?) only do Shiho Nage. Some suggested renaming the technique Tadhg-o Nage. :D

When I would teach an adult class, I would tease at the top of the class that we would be doing thirty-seven variations of shiho nage.

For a while I would do jiyu waza trying to avoid shiho, but before too long, there I would be, doing shiho.

Who is this student? I would love to know more about him or her.

Why don't you ask him yourself? You can write to his dojo at seiseikai@hotmail.com. I can't help but wonder why it is so important that you "CLEAR THIS UP". You could always write the Yoshinkan honbu dojo too if you wish. They can be reached at iyaf@hpo.net.

Let us know what you find out.
