I think I heard somewhere that it was "aikido" after world war two and "aiki-budo" before then.

Thanks a lot.... I heard that the term "aikido" was known before 1940.
The question is if anyone knows if Morihei Ueshiba wrote or mentioned the word "aikido" before the registration at the "Dai Nihon Butokukai (http://aikidojournal.ubernet.net/encyclopedia.php?entryID=131)".

Hi !
The term Aikido , as I understand it , has been a part of
Daito Ryu but more as a technical term ,
and not as we understand it.

Thanks Christian,
I think that Daito Ryu used the terms: Aiki Jujutsu, Aiki No Jutsu, Aiki Age, Aiki Sage etc, but I don't know of any mentioning of the term "aikido" in Daito Ryu.
The question is when did O - Sensei actually started to use this term, was it before registering it at the Dai Nihon Butokukai, or after ?
