Hello everybody. I've had to break training due to some sudden, rather major surgery. It will be September before I'll be able to train again! I'm ill! From not being able to train, I mean. :grr: :)

I've been so heartbroken, I haven't even read any posts for ever so long. I love the new format, though.

I was able to watch the first 2 hours of the Shihan Blok seminar that he conducted here on April 16th and 17th. What an AMAZING experience those two hours were.

Anyone see the Travel Channel show called Martial Arts Hot Spots? O Sensei's grandson did a demonstration. Oh my word. I love aikido.

One of the aikidoka they interviewed said that aikido was magic. Yep, that's a good word. :D

Suzanne,

Hang in there. I recently had to take three months off from training to I could get some physical therapy for an injured shoulder.

I've had other interruptions too, over the years.

Just focus on getting well, and start training when you can.

Janet Rosen

Suzanne, my sympathies. I hope your recovery goes well.
During my year to year and a half off training (injury, surgery, rehab) I found it helpful to get into the dojo at least once a wk to watch class, and I found a non-training aikido related project to occupy time I would normally train -- both things helped me feel connected and productive in the art while off the mat.

Thanks, y'all. I'll feel less sad soon. Looks like I missed a lot while I was gone...

Wishing you a quick and complete recovery.

Oh, if it's not too much trouble, save me a spot, looks like I'm joining you. I suffered an injury and was read the riot act by the ER doctor. No physical activity for 6-8 weeks. :yuck:

Regards,

Paul

No physical activity for 6-8 weeks.Paul, best of luck with a good and full recovery. It's true, there are no shortcuts to the healing process, and also best to plan a staged, easing back into full training in increments once you are cleared.

Hi Suzanne, I had 2 scopes done on my knee last year, March and November, and I'm still not back to aikido, I miss it to! I've gained so much weight between not working out and the winter. I still get stiffness and swelling but getting better. Lately I've been trying to go over everything in my mind to keep it fresh. I'm starting a diet and exercise program and I hope to be back in about 2 months to end of July! So I do know where your coming from! The advice I was given was take your time, heal, because you don't want to re-injur yourself!

Are you injured folks still permitted to attend dojo to observe and learn, evenif you can't participate?
