My girls earned their gold belts!
My turn to test next. I'm terrified. I'm just too dense to learn this quickly enough.
My girls said they'd help me! :)

Gold belts?
Excuse my ignorance. What is the grading system for your kids?
Good luck on your own test btw.
GOLD! Is that what we're calling "Yellow" now?

We have a yellow and a gold.
Others from my dojo: please correct me if I misunderstand, but I believe we have one additional kyu that some others might not have.
We have 7. Many others have 6, don't they?
ANYHOW! I LOVE aikido! Something occured to me last night after class.
It's not that I'm too old for aikido, it's just that my body isn't young enough. :)
j/k--there is enough ice and advil for me...

Hi Suzanne
Lots and lots of variations on belts and kyu levels. It usually makes more sense if you give the kyu level.
Last Saturday I handed out a bunch of pretty blue belts to my students (8yh Kyu). I'm also very proud of my charges - this was the first group to travel to Honbu for grading. I don't grade at the club.
Two of the them were passed with distinction - something few are able to do.

Congratulations, Suzanne.
I actually talked with Bushnell and Horton Senseis for the first time at the Akayama Ryu seminar this past weekend. They are both very personable and I enjoyed training with them very much.
I also met and trained with Bushnell Sensei's daughter in law, Christy. She was kind enough to uke for me some when I was teaching.
Best regards,
