Dangayan Singkaw Aikido Shinzui Group Philippines will be hosting a seminar with R Jun Batobalani, 6th Dan Aikikai, 3rd Dan Aiki Toho Iai, at the UP College of Medicine, Pedro Gil Street, Manila, on Dec 13, 2003 from 9AM to 4PM. Batobalani Sensei (also known as L Jun Mateo) will be teaching empty-handed as well as weapons (bokken, jo, sarrukod) techniques. A Sarrukod is some form of a staff and or cane

That is correct. Sarrukod is Ilokano (a northern Philippine dialect) for staff or cane. In this context it refers to a short stick, approximately 28 inches long, also called baston, or arnis. Though commonly made from rattan, it may also be made from other Philippine hardwoods such as kamagong or bahi.

if you have seen the movie "the hunted" starring Benecio Del Toro and Tommy Lee Jones, the techniques shown there is the numbers in arnis. the filipino form of self defense using stick or cane, though they used the knife but those are arnis techniques or numbers. they just subtituted the stick or cane with the knife...
