Hi there... I just registered so I thought I'd post an intro.

Just started taking Aikido classes at a local dojo about 6 weeks ago. I'm having a blast so far, I am thrilled with the positive atmosphere and the willingness of everyone there to help each other out so that we all have a great time.

Every time I take ukemi I come right back up wanting more, and thinking "yeah yeah do it again do it again!" :D

My Martial Arts experience is pretty limited... a year and a bit of Karate when I was about 9-10, and then a semester of tai chi in college. I was really attracted to Aikido because of the philosophy behind it, the good-natured spirit of it, and because it is practiced with a partner so that you can develop the technique to the point it would be actually useful, but that there are no competitions and very little ego.

Anyway, Howdy! And does anyone know how long it'll be before my knees stop hurting from sitting in seiza? :)

Hello Brehan, and welcome.

Your teachers are great. I thoroughly enjoy training with Spiros Sensei and with Lynn! They always give me a run for my money. :D

I am sure you will continue to enjoy training where you are.

Hi Brehan,

Thanks for your introduction and welcome to the AikiWeb Forums!

As far as seiza goes, just keep doing it and it'll most likely eventually not hurt. Don't overdo it, though.
