Am I correct in this being a form of mantra used in aikido? I am guessing this is derived from shinto or buddisim. I dont think its much practiced here in the states since its more of an esoteric type thing and seems kinda shunned in modern western society. Is there anyone here on the boards that has any experience with this and could give us a viewpoint on what it is, what effects it had on you ect ect. I have a small bit on info on it in one of john stevens books but it was just some of the vowel sounds and not alot of detail. I get the impression that it was quite important to O sensei and wanted to find out some more about it.
