Got my first crop of training pictures up - I am sure over time better ones will be posted. We had some new people show up on that day and certain regulars were missing but the key was someone actually had a digital camera and someone else was too wounded to train.

My second bone break in my dojo. The first was a few years ago with someone playing Jackie Chan just after class but this one apparently cracked his rib when we went down togeather during randori. Not so bad but - well I had a photographer.

Peter, that dojo is just too much - shouldn't be allowed to practice in paradise...

Loved the picture with the kneeling uke oblivious to the full flip going on behind - great composition (but what's with the hat?).

Yagi-san is my best student - fellow Shodokan Yudansha are all students of my teacher.

Sweat is a serious problem here and the headscarf is his way of keeping it under control. He is Dan graded in Aiki-Kempo, moves very well and has one of the scariest looking teachers I know.

That flip is part of the nage no kata, the picture just before is the entry. It's part balance breaking drill, part ukemi training. He did fine although his arm should be more centred.

Looks like your club is starting to come together nicely, Peter. Theres definitely a sense of fun comes across in those pics. (And I get the impression you *really* enjoy that 'slice uke in half right up the middle' gedanate from the goshin no kata.)

I love that technique - it make me feel so evil. That pic is great - I like uke's feet almost straight up and in a bit of a blur.

Just checked with my Mozilla (I use it when I run Linux not windows) and I had no problems. :p

What I will do is make a link to a gallery page - next coffee break. For those with INFERIOR mozillas. ;)

I also use Mozilla, and I had no problems, either. I think that it may be the Java controls that Peter mentioned but I don't know. I didn't change too many settings with my browser.

I use Mozilla under Linux too, and had no problems. (Except 2 seconds wasn't quite enough - I had a peek at the source code and went straight to the images instead - the new gallery is much nicer.)

Ah, OK. I had my preferences set in Mozilla to keep Javascript from switching images. Turning that back on made the image switching thing work. (I turned it back off, though, since I find the effect annoying on most sites...)

Beautiful dojo you got there. Great shots - those pics remind me of how stuff is supposed to look with more than one Yudansha around:)

Would love to come train there whenever I may be in the area. Hoping for Internationals 2005 :)

Got back from North Bay, Ontario a few weeks ago actually, gave some folks there a taste of what Shodokan looks like as well.

Just curious what's your connection to North Bay - it didn't look like an Aikido group. Keep spreading the faith. ;)

Hey Peter,

My connection in North Bay is a Shotokan Karate Instructor who has trained in aiki jutsu and judo - she is the uke in the photos, Ina Hiltz Sensei. Her dojo is affiliated with the World Kobudo Federation.

The seminars were done at 3 Karate dojos - I even had the local Yoshinkan instructor (the only aikido available in the area) and some of his students at one of em. I think they were all pleasantly surprised at the simple and direct application of the techs. :) The senseis left some reviews on my guestbook.

And thank you for the invitation. Would love to take it up one day.
