Look at the stance.
Getting past being blinded by the bright yellow I see a difference.
Shizentai is where its at. Keep up the good work.

Everyone says the smile thing, the truth is.. the white picture was taken after a regular training session, a mere two hours of fun..
The latter taken yesterday after.. six hours on the mat, a little tired, still a tad wracked-by-nerves, and bemused ;)
I missed out on full marks, by one point. For a semi-failed forward into backward roll, where I was simply.. so shattered, the backwards finish ended a little before it should, but apart from that.. and a moment when I stepped back from a Kotegaishi, and couldn't feel my knees anymore (and after watching the tape, you can visibly see me bob up and down, as I try to remember how to stand up..).. I don't actually remember a single thing about the actual test!..
Should have some moving images to give you all nightmares with sometime soon.
ps. After viewing the tape, I can confirm that 400lb ukemi isn't pretty, but it looks almost as much fun as it actually is! :D

Belt is now embroidered, and I'm happy with the result. Means it's not just a plain yellow bit of webbing now :)

And this from a man who warns people that I'm evil!
Well done Daniel, keep at it.

Daniel,
Good job! It's nice to get past that first hurdle. If you're interested, I've posted two pics from my recent 4th and 3rd kyu tests here:

I'm another big guy, but I do pretty well. I've been training for almost four years, and I only wish I had started years before that.

Hi Drew!
The pictures from your test are great, I should have some short movie clips of my test in the next few days :)
After watching a junior grading on the day before the senior testings, I too felt the same, that I really wished I'd started at a younger age!
Best,
-Daniel.
