Hello Everybody!
This not an Aikido related thread but you may want to go check this website out.
It a period piece set in late 1800's, west meets east kinda thing. Tom Cruise is the lead. While this is questionable. The actual trailer is gorgeous. At this point it looks kinda like "Shogun"/"The Challenge" for those of you who remember these films. www.lastsamurai.com (http://)
Enjoy!

Yeah, this was on the Matrix. I've heard a bit about it already. It does sound a bit like Shogun, but this is set in the Meiji restoration, so it's a bit more modern. I wish I knew more about the story, but I think it's something along the lines of Tom Cruise being accepted into the ranks of the samurai to train them to use modern weapons. Then an outside force attacks and he has to decide whether to remain loyal to his people or to the samurai. Could suck bad, could be interesting. I wish it didn't have to be Tom Cruise, though.

It could have potential. I guess the one good thing is since he is in it they will spend all kinds of cash. What I say in the way of production value looks good though.

Oh. I take it back, the trailer on the Matrix was actually a lot longer and more revealing than the web page. Check it out if you go see the Matrix.
It could have potential.
It has Tom Cruise, it will most likely be a mediocre film, although it should make a good deal of money. Heck, based on the trailer, I'm more excited about "Kill Bill".
Note to Miramax: Release "Hero" you clowns!

Yeah "Kill Bill" looks like it will be a lot of fun. QT finally getting to a HK film, should be hectic.
Look everbody, I know the trailer at the website is short but I just wanted to get the word out on the film for those that are interested.
I have no doubt that the website will become more elborate as we go along.
I've moved this thread to the Open Discussion Forum.

Ok, I'm starting to have some doubts about this movie. I saw the poster today and Tom Cruise was drawing a katana... with his left hand, saya in his right. Come on, if they can't even get that right than maybe this is a bad message. You know, you'd think they would, I don't know, ASK SOMEONE who knows a little about this stuff before they went messing stuff up. Frankly, I don't think that many people will care about this movie other than those interested in Japan, so a little attention to detail is certainly called for, as people will tend to notice stuff like that. I guess the one other option is that they, for some reason, mirrored the image to make the poster look better. In which case it would be some graphic artist's fault. Somehow I doubt it, though. We'll see. I'll keep you posted if I see any other promotional material for this.
"I liked it better when it was called 'Dances with Wolves'"
--- comment overheard when the trailer played prior to Matrix Reloaded.
