Does any one have a detailed description of the 12 kihon for SMR Jodo? I have surfed the web and all I can find are one or two word description for each technique. Books on the subject are almose nonexistant.
It would be greatly appreciated if you could e-mail it to me or provide a link to a web site.
Here are a few of books on the subject (mostly in Japanese) near the top of the page:

Also, here are a few videos on the subject, also near the top of the page:

I had the first video by Matsui sensei but I believe I donated it to the dojo.

Thanks Jun but there are two problems with those books. 1 it costs $219 US which is about $350 CDN. That is alot for a book, any book. No book is worth $350. 2. Its in Japaneese. Did I forget to mention, I can't read Japaneese.
Thanks anyway, I was just looking for a short description of each technique.

Why do you want the descriptions? It would help folks point you to the best source of info.
You can always get M.Finn's book on jodo:

I personally don't care much for it, but it does have short (detailed?) descriptions of the kihon.

Thanks Will:
My main art is shotokan karate (10 yrs), however I have done some aikido, judo, jujitsu and kobudo. I have always liked the jo and would like to practice with it, however, I don't have the time to enrole in an aikido class (I don't like being thrown). I realise that aikido-jo and SMR are different arts but for my purposes learning the 12 basics and a couple of kata is all I realy need for now.
I had though of M Finns book but was not sure of the content. I have Don Zier's book and found it to be very helpfull.

Ok. I don't know anything about the geography of Canada (other than it is big), but if you can find your way to Guelph, you can try to hook up with Kim Taylor's jodo group:

In fact, I think they are having a jodo seminar pretty soon. I believe he also sells a book/cd-rom with fairly detailed descriptions of the ZNKR jodo kihon and kata (just surf around on his site).
I didn't care much for Don Zier's book, even from an aikido jo perspective. In fact, I don't really care much for any books I've seen on aikido jo work. The only one I can bring myself to recommend to folks looking for a book about aikido jo (only if I must) is Dave Lowry's book.
