Which style of aikido is most effect in the street

Hey again guys, which aikido style do yous believe is the most effective in the streets. i hear yoshinkan is prretty good! what do yous think of iwama-ryu!

I'm a firm believer that it is the practitioner, not the style that makes it effective or ineffective.

People study aikido for different reasons. I practice the art from both the spiritual and martial aspect equally. It has to be ki driven, compassionate, and subtle... and it has to be effective.

The one you study.

I've been noticing things that sensei and others have been doing in the dojo recently. It's seems that often WHAT is done isn't really as important as HOW it's done. I've seen sensei do some off the wall stuff, or have something happen different than he had orignally intended and it still worked. The thing I've noticed is that whatever he's doing he DOES it. With full intent, focus, mind/body unification....whatever you want to call it. When I've been lucky enough to have it happen myself I've found the same thing. When however I'm not confident in, or commited to my action it usually fails...even if my positioning was good and the technique was technically correct.

Gee, I guess that's my long winded way of agreeing with MikeE :D

When someone comes to my dojo and is interested in "street defense), it doesn't bother me.

I neither go out of my way to avoid working with them nor to work with them.

Frankly, this is because 90%+ of the time, they're gone in a week or two.

If they come for two months, I start to think they're going to be around awhile.

Don't get me wrong, I *never* ignore them. Heck, I was not only *one* of them when I started, I was one of the worst.
