It has nothing to do with the time of year for me. Most of my students are British soldiers, some are in the Balkans, some England (fire-fighting), Some Middle-East, etc.
So my Tatami are fuller when the "bad boys" of the world are behaving themselves.
Fortunately my wife practices (about to examine for 1st Kyu), so I never have to rest.

I try very hard to train everyday, Usually an hour outside early each morning of buki waza. Then an hour of tachi waza inside on the mat after work in the evening.
However, there is something about doing sword cuts in the snow that just trips my trigger. So if it is snowing or there is fresh snow on the ground, I'm out making tracks with my boken and jo.
There is the Japanese term "shugyo" that comes to mind here. It means basically, hard, intense, dedicated training, every day, no matter how you feel or what the weather is like, etc. Of course, there is a fine line between dedicated and stupid. I'm thinking I crossed to the stupid side long ago when it comes to training outdoors, but I love it.

;) Hi All,
In regards to my earlier post, I said I did tachi waza in the evening. Though this is true on occasion, I meant to say tai-jutsu, empty hand training. Sorry for the lapse.
