I am interested in training in Aikido. I have become sick and tired of getting injured in Judo and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. I know that this website has a great dojo search, I have used it, but i was wondering if anyone can recomend a school in the area or a particular style of Aikido, which I hear there are a few of? Thank You All.

My old home dojo is in DC. Aikido Shobukan Dojo just off the Takoma Park Metro stop (one stop before Silver Spring). The bad news is that Saotome sensei is only there occasionally these days. The good news is that there are several senior students (5th and 6th Dan) who ow run the place. Pete Trimmer sensei is notable amongst the group. A fine Aikido teacher and a real gentleman. He would be a wonderful person to train under! And the dojo has a great schedule of seminars and camps as well.
Cyde Takaguchi Sensei was always over in Maryland at the Capitol Aikikai. He is also quite senior and a top notch teacher. Don't remember where exactly his dojo is though.
There's also Virginia Ki Society (http://www.vakisociety.org) which is just right outside of DC and is about a fifteen minute walk from the Dunn Loring Metro station.

I attend the NIH Aikido club. Information available at http://www.recgov.org/r&w/nihaik.html
Also check out Aikido of Arlington. Yvonne Thelwell Sensei, 3rd dan, teaches Iwama style Aikido in a friendly atmosphere.
Their web page is: http://www.geocities.com/tokyo/ginza/3995/index.html
