Hey, all you Japanese speakers, out there,

I'm looking for the kanji for the word "shibui," which I have been told is the concept of the beauty that comes with age. Is this a good translation by the way?

Thanks!

a (Radical 85; No.3200 in the Revised Nelson dictionary; 5 related meanings given on p.1214 of the Kojien, 5th edition). I think that the positive meanings are not directly connected with age. That is, the austere elegance conveyed by the term is only incidentally related to age. I think that perhaps sabi, simple elegance, is more related to age.

Best regards,
