Ah, I could be training,no class yet though...
As yall can see "variations " has quotation marks... meaning like irimi nage, only they bring you down by your hair ect. ;) have fun posting your "variations" (like nose waza) ;);)

I have a tape with Senshido founder (Richard Dimitri), where during his demonstration, he says "From here you can grab his hair. If he has no hair, you can grab his ears. If he has no ears... <pause>... well you get the idea."

That's pretty funny. I tried that last night when we were doing hairwaza. Nage had really short hair so I tried earwaza, very difficult to grab if your not a mother.. my mother was a master at earwaza...

hehehe

another version of hair waza (one of many)where your braid or pony tail gets wrapped around nages arm or nage stands on it while you try to get up or pivots around taking you with them...thats when I started braiding... complements of Bro...

Anyhoo, in class we were Practiceing Koshi nage and at the point where you tenkan to take them on the hip, My friend pete being Uke jumpes on his Nage's back, so they procede to piggy back around the dojo before Nage just grabbied him and rolled forward sending them both flying. twas pretty kewl.

Who's Nicky Lauda ?
Former race car driver. Lost his hair and ears in a crash. Became famous for it (at least in Holland).

You can get laughs sometimes if you can manage to get uke to go down with one finger on the forehead.

OT: Nikki Lauda

Austrian F1 driver, three times World Champion.

Crashed at the Nurburgring in a Ferrari in 76 and was severely burned.

Came back to win his 2nd and 3rd titles, then ran an airline.

isn't Google wonderful...? :)

Posted this before in another forum. When doing iriminage, as you (tori) step in behind uke, instead of placing your hand on uke`s neck to assist with the forward momentum, stick a finger in your mouth and wet it (you need to be doing this as you move, without letting uke see), then stick it in uke`s ear instead, a most excellent kuzushi waza.

Went for Aikido class yesterday and had a couple of good laughs.

We were asked to practice Nikko like in Gakyu Hammi Kata-dori Nikko but instead of grabbing the gi, we were asked to grab Nage's hair. Right after our instructor demonstrated, he said, "Just practice this a couple of times, or you will lose too much hair!". Then, indicating to a black belt who is balding, he said, "David, you don't need to practice this technique." We all got a good laugh out of it.

Also in the same class, still demonstrating the same technique, the instructor had uke in the Nikko position in forward stance. He was explaining why it is important to be in forward stance while holding uke in Nikko. As he moved from forward stance to middle stance and then to weight on rear leg stance, uke moved closer to his body and groin. Our instructor then said, "If I make that mistake (of being in a rear stance), then I will be the one doing the tapping out instead." That was another funny instance.

I was demonstrating tenchi-nage (and I was in the place of the uki), and the person I was training with put her fingers into my throat so when I tried to explain something I couldn't actually speak - it took several seconds to realise what I meant by flapping my remaining arm around.
