~~Some years ago Koichi Kashiwaya Sensei of Ki Society told me a word, explaining that it meant something that is more painfully beautiful because of it's very transience. I carelessly misplaced it.
~~Does anyone know what I'm referring to? :D

Life?
Dang it -- and I was just at a seminar with Kashiwaya sensei over the past weekend. I should have asked him then. Sorry, Paula...
Maybe if someone else from here is going to be seeing him sometime in the near future, they could ask him?

This "poetic" meaning comes close to several things in Japanese aesthetics and Taoist terms. The closest I can think of is "aware". This is usually used in connection with the Buddhist feeling of "beauty and transience", however there may also be qualities of wabi and sabi connected with it. There may also be a hint of shibui also.
Actually any of these terms may be what Sensei had in mind or something similar.
