Here is a short Aikido video clip of Malory Graham (6th dan, Seattle Aikikai) teaching a variation from kaiten nage (rather than, I believe, kokyu nage as stated in the title) at the 2012 USAF Summer Camp.

From her website: "Malory started her aikido training in 1988 with Paul Sylvain Sensei and received her Rokudan rank (6th Dan) from Y. Yamada Shihan in 2014. She also has a close affiliation with instructors Yoko Okamoto Sensei and Chris Mulligan Sensei of Aikido Kyoto. She is a certified Shidoin instructor through The United States Aikido Federation."

What are your thoughts on this video and technique?

My thought after watching that this was henka waza, a change from one technique to another. It looked to me that she started with kaitenage and then switched to kokyunage. Overall, I thought it was pretty good and it might just pop up in class tonight.

Agree I consider this a Henkawaza. Uke needs to actively stand up and turn out of kaitenage. Smooth clean movement. I like it.

Kaitenage turning into Makiotoshi or Sumiotoshi, depending on where and how you throw him.

If I get the chance in the near future, I'll ask Malory-sensei to throw me with this one. There's no better way to form an opinion on a technique than to do ukemi for it! :)
