View Full Version : Loss of head instructor
The dojo I where I practice recently lost our head instructor, who passed away. As such we are going through a lot of changes and adjustments as we try to adjust to our new situation. I was wondering if anyone else has gone through the loss of their instructor (either through death, relocation or any other means), and would be willing to share their experiences and how they got through such a unique time.

Good topic, When I first started training about 3 years into my instructor ended up moving a few states away. Fortunately he had instilled in is basics after basics and we were sitting on a solid foundation. So we carried on wihtout him for a brief period, but as it was a college club, students graduate and move away and I ended up floating from dojo to dojo througout the area, becoming quite the Aiki Ronin. It's difficult but if they left behind a good core group it is difficult but you can carry on.
