Comparisons to elements in nature, overcoming those elements, or surviving those elements is a common staple of training.

Trying to get those who resist to ride the wave, cut though the wind, or even go with the flow is a newcomers worst nightmare for the first years of Aikido practice.

How does the elemental training or ride the wave, may the wind be at your back, or go with the flow apply to the people you train with.

Or is a sack of potatoes, a dead tree falling, and a car wreck off the top of the Empire state building a more apt phase to incur?

What phrases would best describe yourself and three of your most different training partners?

Big and strong, small and petite -- I use the same aiki with all people. They follow me -- I don't follow them, unless its a shihan who can show me something new.

Correct movement is universal -- it needs very little strength, only slight adjustments and :do: .
