I started studying Tomiki-ryu Aikido in 1972. My main instructors were Lynn Geis and Karl Geis (who just passed away). We did a lot of groundwork, and we also practiced Shindo Muso-ryu Jyodo (staff) and learned judo katas. Because I worked nights, I started in the day class, which was composed of all women. But I attended evening classes and Saturday classes every chance I could. After about five years, I switched to a day job and began to attend the evening classes.

I have not worked out for about four years now because of diabetes and arthritus. I ended up with a royku-dan in aikido and a shi-dan in jyodo.

I also earned a B.A. in Humanities and an M.I.S. (Master of Interdisciplinary Studies) in English, political science, and psychology. I completed the coursework for a Ph.D. but ended up ABD (all but dissertation).

Just recently ran across AikiWeb. So I'm checking it out.
