An old friend (whom i cannot seem to be able to conduct recently) had been going all about it. A form or technique direct to uke's centre, something resembling a huge hug and irimi nage. Presumably this was taught by Hikitsuchii Sensei
Anyone ever seen/done this?

Can always count on Phi to get his "Heiny" in gear.
Mary is a classic.

Not sure, mate. Thanks for posting this, might be quite close, though. I believe more " both arms hug-and spin-and down to earth" is all he talked about.

Stelios,
The clip that Phi pointed you towards comes from the Irimi video that Ikeda Sensei sold for many years through Bu Jin Design. When DVD's pushed out videos, all four of the Bu Jin videos (Irimi, Za, Koshi, and Buki) were put on one DVD. I don't know if copies of the videos or DVD are available on eBay; I have not heard anything about any plan on Ikeda Sensei's part to make that stuff available again.

I always had Ikeda Sensei on my "priority list", maybe due to Pranin (earlier on my Aikido career) or to Saito Sensei (whose style i really adore and reflects resemblance to many, IMHO). It would be worth to try and obtain the videos you mention. Thank you Matt. :)

HI Stelios,
I think by your description, the technique you are after is called Aiki Otoshi or in some circles Aiki nage.
This technique can be performed from different attacks, however the usual attack to learn the technique (well this is how I was taught it at least) is from Ai hanmi or Shomen uchi.
Enter irimi to the side of uke lower your knees which in turn drops your weight and unbalances uke.
with your hips firmly pressed against uke`s, and your arms wrapped around their waist straighten your legs and twist your hips to the rear, throwing to the rear over your hips.
hope this helps :-)
