Tonight I sent off my first e-book, which is being handled by bookbaby.com.

My book is called The Speederlink.

I wrote and illustrated it with tiny black-line drawings 14 years ago, for my daughter's 7th birthday.

This year, I re-visioned all the drawings and made a full set of large color illustrations, for e-book publication for iPod, iPad, iPhone and readers from Amazon and Barnes & Noble. If it does well, it should also become available in print.

I've posted some images here, which are pending approval in the Artistic Images category.

The Speederlink is not an aikido story, but maybe it's a Zen story. I think it can be called a story of kokoro. It's actually a poem, illustrated line by line, about a father searching for the daughter from whom he is separated. I just thought some of the images would go well on here.

When the images are approved, I'll link to them here.

Thanks.

David

Good luck. There's an advert on t.v. over here advertising a mobile network called orange. Their catchphrase seems to fit.

The future's bright, the future's orange.

Thank you, Graham.

Nice thought for me.

In Shzuoka, the big local things were furniture, a special type of mochi and oranges. So a lot of things were called orange-this and orange-that.

Well, here is the link to the images. I call this one "kokoro". Links to all of the images show up on this page as I post this (not all the illustrations in the book--just the sample I posted here):

This book should be hitting the outlets by Monday, I think.

People tend to assume that it's a children's book but it's also surrealist and heavily influence by Zen. It's really a book for anyone separated from a child, so I describe it as a children's book for anyone.

Thanks again to Jun for his tolerance of this plug.

Thanks, Matt. I was a little eager in my timeline. It looks like next Friday or the following Monday or so will be the appearance date for Apple, Barnes and Noble and probably Amazon.

It's on the way.

Best to you.

It's already up on Amazon.

Thanks to all.

The Speederlink is debugged now. I got hold of an iPad and had some qualms about some alignment, where pages were breaking, viewing images in relation to the text they supported, etc. Thought I was going to have to spend another $50 for format editing.

Then the iPad sort of failed and the iBooks app stopped working. I upgraded the iPad OS, it cleared up the bugs and the e-book now looks pretty sweet.

Thanks for the support and all the image views.
