I'm new here and wanted to introduce myself.
My 7yo son and I are signed up to begin learning Aikido at a local Yoshokai dojo this Sunday.
My son was in an Aikikai dojo a couple of years ago, but he got bored as they didn't really teach much Aikido. Mostly just exercises and a little bit of Ki exercises.
I have been trying to learn as much as I can about Aikido from the sidelines while my family got in to a position where we could afford to have both of us in training.
I must say, the Yoshokai techniques do seem quite abrupt when compared to the Aikikai style. However, I'm hoping that as things progress, the techniques will "smooth out" some and be less "robotic".
Does anyone have any experience with Yoshokai? I'm also a little concerned about the high-falls that they do. I'm not sure my back can take that kind of a beating.
Oh well, we'll see how it goes. I know that I have a lot to learn. :)
Welcome to AikiWeb.
Please feel encouraged to ask your questions outside of the Introductions forum, as doing so will probably get more discussion.
