Hi folks.
Student with a background in Hakkoryu (Hakko Denshin Ryu, KoKoDo Jujutsu -- vs. mainline, that is). Nice forums with lots of passionate discussion here (long-time lurker, first-time poster).
Hi Mert,
Welcome to AikiWeb.

Thanks for the welcome folks.
Hakkoryu is a first-cousin art to aikido (it's founder Ryuho Okuyama. like Morihei Ueshiba, trained under Sokaku Takeda). It is a jujutsu-and-shiatsu system (the latter does not derive from Daito-ryu) vs. an aikijujutsu system.
Here's historical footage that shows both the jujutsu and shiatsu --> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A-r0FN8BR9Y
Following the shodai's soke's death, multiple ryuha (vs. affiliated branches in the case of Daito-ryu) were formed by senior students holding menkyo-kaiden (e.g. KoKoDo Jujutsu, Hakko Denshin Ryu Jujutsu) that largely preserve the mainline's syllabus.
