Aikido/Seibukan jujutsu

Anyone have a good working knowledge of both? And can something be gained from training in both?

I think that Roy Dean here on Aikiweb should be the one to ask if in regards to the mix between aikido and Seibukan Jujutsu since he holds dan ranks in both arts.

Yes Peter that is what i am refering to. I should have been more descriptive in my post. Thank you for making this more clear.

I definitely recommend cross training in Seibukan Jujutsu, if afforded the opportunity. Not only will it expand your technical repertoire, it will offer perspective on where many of the Aikido techniques came from, as well as new movement patterns that are quite useful.

I feel the main strength of Seibukan Jujutsu is the variables it introduces (numerous weapons, non-standard attacks), and the spirit of improvisation it encourages. While it shies away from full resistance sparring (as in BJJ), it bridges the gap between kata and live application through henka (techniques variations). I feel it successfully takes the extremely direct and painful techniques of Hakko-Ryu Jujutsu and merges them with the flow of Aikido.
