Here's a page that has some great recordings of the shakuhachi (a Japanese traditional bamboo flute). There are lots of great recordings around, but this stuff is old school!
I recommend listening while sipping good sake:)

I thought you were meaning something else when I first read the thread title. For those who know the language know what I'm talking about. For those who don't know the language, I'm not sure how to say it without being sexually offensive.

Not sure of the point you're making. You made a mistake. That's cool. But why would you want to draw everyone's attention to it.
Thanks for the great link, Oisin. I'm still working on getting any sound out of a shakuhachi. There must be a secret. Maybe it's kokyu ryoku...

Sorry to disappoint you:)

That's great you're learning Shakuhachi. There are a number of shakuhachi players that were/are noted martial artists (or is it the other way around?), but I don't know of any Aikidoka.
One tip about getting an initial sound that may help:
If you have a two piece shakuhachi, try getting a note through only the top half (i.e the mouthpiece section) at first.
I think kokyu ryoku has a lot to do with it too.
kata kara chikara nuide!
Here's a nice link to a biography of a shakuhachi great:
