Why not?
Universal principle is just that. No matter what language we use to communicate it, the principle and the effect is the same.
Many people say that the aikido I practice is very "Chinese." This obviously comes from what I have learned from my teachers and is always growing and changing in its form. Form changes and becomes style...however, principle is the same.
I studied tai chi for twelve years before starting aikido, and I've found that there are many similarities between the two arts. Some of them are the concepts of blending, centering and redirecting. I finally started to practice only aikido due to time constraints and the fact that I couldn't find a local instructor in my style of tai chi. I've spoken to other martial artists, in both aikido and tai chi, who agreed with me in my belief that the two arts have the potential to be extremely complimentary of each other. As such, one of my goals is to someday resume my studies in tai chi (maybe when I retire or win the lottery).
