Hi All:
I was wondering if there are any Aikido instructors in the McKinney, TX area (North Dallas). There are several people, including myself, who are looking for a class in the area. The closest dojo to us is North Texas Aikido in Allen, TX, but their new building is so far away its not feasible. I've found lots of places in the Dallas area proper, but it is very strange in such a large community here but no one to be found.
If anyone knows of anyone teaching in a school/church or anywhere in McKinney or Frisco please pass along their contact information.
Thanks,
Richard

The closest dojo I know of is about 14 miles from McKinney. It is about 1/2 way to Dallas, if I remember the area correctly. Anywho, the name of the place is Plano Aikido Center, and it's location is 1445 Los Rios Blvd. #101, Plano TX 75074. The chief instructor is Sidney Shiba. Look him up if you are interested.
Hi Richard,
How far away is too far? Looks to me like Allen and McKinney are actually pretty close, but maybe you've got bad traffic or something.

Allen and McKinney do but up against each other. But Allen is also spread out. The North Texas Aikido place in Allen is actually about 40+ minutes away (one way drive) from the heart of McKinney.

This is about 22 miles away, about 40 minute drive as well.
It seems all the places favor close proximity to Dallas. It's too bad because in McKinney alone there is 125,000+ people not counting Frisco which is next to McKinney which also has no listed places.
I heard someone talking that they saw/heard of an Aikido Sensei in McKinney with a small group. But, I've not found any.

I know this post is a few years old, but I live in Mckinney and this dojo is about 15 miles away from me down 75. It is about 20 minutes drive time. I have only practised sporadically as I mostly do BJJ, but I can say the mats are probably the thinnest and hardest in the metroplex. You will need ibuprofen if your rolls/falls are not that great or if you are still working on them :-)http://www.aikidoplanodojo.vpweb.com
