He can call it whatever he wants. FWIW, I read: Daito Ryu aikijujutsu, Shorinjin, Saito Ninjutsu, Ktchen sink, I ran out of names to add to it...ryu
Whatever it is-it's not Daito ryu.
As for being Uke, we're different Linda; I would have looooved to have let let him try that stuff out on me.

Presumably this is a snippet from a longer clip / multiple practitioners. Description suggests some kind of friendship seminar.

As for Uke...yeah; I don't think I would have stood for that after the first 'peeing on fire hydrant' incident. Not as bad as the infamous 'Tiger Mask' video ...but still kinda disproportional

Lineage and Tori : uke dynamics aside - the quality of movement is what caught my eye. YMMV.

We can agree to disagree on the quality of his movement; I think a lot of it is inane, superfluous and entirely made up from different things he might have been exposed to or from his own thoughts on things.
And all that said....It's not Daito ryu.

My Aikido BS Detector is not well calibrated yet. ;) I haven't run into the Aikido version of being sent to the aircraft maintenance hanger to ask for a gallon of Prop Wash and 50' of Flight Line, but I'm sure when I do, I'll fall for it hook, line, and sinker. So I appreciate both your points of view on whether this video is serious or not. (Clearly it was playful, I guess I mean "the real thing.")

It's always interesting to watch the uke in any martial art demonstration; they show, tell and make clear what is going on much more than the instructor. My favorite response is "What happened to your other arm? And why did you fall down? Did you have polio as a child?

Amen...I remember one Sensei saying to his Uke/Audiance during a demo "Sorry you're in the wrong class.... Martial Arts Acting School is down the hall." :)

I won't tell you the Karate Sensei's name but I am a big guy and at one of his Demos he pointed me out and asked me to attack him...To be fair he did not know my background...I threw a couple of half speed jabs and he insisted I attack "harder" So I threw another jab and he bit hook line and sinker and did your basic block counter... Without even thinking I entered and side stepped him and did a basic Uke Goshi Throw.... which knocked the wind out of him...I felt so bad for him.

As i mentioned before on another occasion after a Nishio Aikido Seminar a kindly old Chinese lady who had spent the weekend babysitting her grandchild kindly asked Yoshida Sensei if she could demonstrate a bit of her Wu Shu, Kung Fu, or Chi Gong ( I am still not sure what I saw) All I know is she blew our minds...

You never know who will be watching you So your shit BETTER be wired tight. :)
