Hey Guys and Gals
I am looking for a book "An Aikido Life" by Gozo Shioda, I looked all over for it, including on amazon and on other websites that specialize in Martial Art books and videos.
The only people that seem to have it, if only online is Aikido Journal, and frankly for the price of membership 29.75 I would prefer to get a copy of this book in hard cover. So can anyone help out and let me know where I could get my hands on a copy.

It was published as "Aikido Jinsei" in 1985 in Japanese. The translated excerpts in Aikido Journal are, I believe, the only English language version available at the moment, although I do remember hearing that a full hardcopy English translation was being considered, but I must confess to being a little fuzzy on the details. You might consider in the meantime getting a copy of "Aikido Shugyo" instead.

One other option I just thought of is to purchase the Aiki News/Aikido Journal back issue DVD (http://www.aikidojournal.com/catalog/productdetails?code=dvd08) ($39.95). It's got scans of every hardcopy issue of both magazines. The Aikido Jinsei articles were a 16-part series, beginning in Aiki News Issue #72, and ending in Issue #87. That's a lot of info for about the price of a book or two.

You can acquire the DVD for free if you purchase a two-year subscription at Aikido Journal. One year is $29.75, the bundle package is two years and the DVD, not to mention full access to a wealth of information for $ 54.95.
Hope this helps.

Thank you for your replies, I am going to consider the 2 year subscription just to get the back issues. Also I never heard of Aikido Shugyo before so thank you very much for that.

You're welcome... Here is a link to the Aikido Shugyo entry in the AJ Bibliography (http://www.aikidojournal.com/bibliography_details?id=134), where you will find a summary and a couple of reviews, including mine.
And here is the link to the Shindokan Books website (http://www.shindokanbooks.com/shugyo.shtml), where the book is available for purchase (and it's pretty much the only place to get it most of the time).

Thank you, I enjoyed reading your review as well as the other reviews on that website. How is you're Nose? :)
