Hello,
Last weekend there was a big event in the Netherlands. Doshu was invited to celibrate the start of an organisation under which all the Aikido organisations in the Netherlands are united. Further there are a lot of events this year concerning 400 years relationship betweem the Netherlands and Japan.
At the end all the organisations gave demonstrations and it was finilized by Doshu Moriteru Ueshiba.
Here is the clip: http://www.vimeo.com/7628052
You can turn of the HD if you have a slower intenet connection or older PC. It is also uploading to Youtube at this moment.

Glad I wasn't there.. That's really a bit too much to be enjoyable.

Great, thanks for sharing that.
Was the music being played while he demonstrated, or was that overlayed by you during the video editing? Hard to tell, just curious.

I added the music to it.
Hope you don't mind.

Wow. Hahah... I must be learning something. I could actually NAME some of the techniques he was doing.
(amusing to me because up until two weeks ago, I thought I would NEVER get the hang of it but I had my first "A-Ha" moment then. Interestingly enough, it coincided with me fixing most of my uniform problems.)

I came across this:
http://www.aikidorotterdam.com/nieuws/doshu-2009.html
there's some footage from the training, gives an idea of the crowds... :)
Arjan are there any videos of the demo's by all the organizations?

Glad I wasn't there.. That's really a bit too much to be enjoyable.Actually it was surprisingly doable. People were quite aware of their surroundings it seemed. In the middle of the mat most people just went to the point of breaking balance without completing the throw, and on the edges of the mat there was even room to throw for those who wanted to. It was a big mat.
The sports center it was in was new and very nice. Hard to reach by public transport though... As far as I can tell everything went very smoothly. Kudos to the organizers for that!
Of course this wasn't really a seminar you'd go to to work on the fine points of how an aikido technique works... it kinda felt like a weird sort of cocktail party, where instead of polite small talk with people you had polite aikido. :D
It was really something to be in such a big crowd of aikido people, I'm glad I was there. And it was very interesting to see demo's by (I think) ten different aikido organizations. (I was looking for people who don't throw using there shoulders. :D)

That was my thought while I was watching it too :p :)

Hi,
I am working on the demo's. It will not be as the Doshu video. I just put it all behind each other. On vimeo I can post it in 1 gb chunks so it wil be in three or 4 parts. It will be an hour I guess. I'll post here when it is done.
All the best,
Arjan
