Even though it,s not aikido his water analogy on energy flow is pretty cool what do you think."water can flow or water can crash be water my friend"
"If your opponent strikes with fire, counter with water, becoming completely fluid and free-flowing. Water, by its nature, never collides with or breaks against anything. On the contrary, it swallows up any attack harmlessly. "-- O' Sensei

:)
Reminds me a lot of irimi nague.
We are instructed not to position arm in the neck line, but to circulate it around uke, much like the way a river goes through a rock (onwards, almost strike, upwards - palm to the sky, cicle down while stepping forward). It's beautiful (and it works).

The water analogy is pretty old. I've found reference to it in Shinkage-ryu as far back as the mid-1600s. I suspect Bruce got it from Chinese arts going back much further than that.

He invented it and the foxtrot. Originally the foxtrot was part of the five animals form of dance but the other four have been lost in the mysts of time.
