After a four month sabbatical and some soul searching, I'm returning to my dojo. I've continued to train by helping out a junior class that a fellow student teaches at a local university so I've stayed relatively limber and working with these newcomers has been like a breath of fresh air for me. To often at my home dojo you end up dealing with the "I want to be a black belt now" mentality and if you end up using effective technique on them they leave because they can't take the pain. I was also upset with the way some students have been advanced. In my mind I don't think they deserved their advancement, but since the economics of a dojo often require my sensei to make some difficult choices, I came to an understanding. The first class felt good and my sensei let me know there were no hard feelings by giving me a "little extra" with his shihonage. He's still got it. Now all I have to do is prove that I can eventually get it.:sorry:
