Hello,

I've recently found out that I'm going to be moving to Mountain Home, TN. This is in the extreme northeast corner of Tennesse. I've done some checking on the dojo search and I'm running into my lack of geographical knowledge of the area. I'd prefer to train in a USAF dojo. Does anyone know of one in this area of Tennesse, Virgina, North Carolina?

Thanks for your time,

Hello,

I checked the National Geographic Atlas website to see which cities were near the location you've given. I then checked the dojo search for Tennesse, North Carolina, and Virginia. I'm sorry to say, I found nothing. Noxville, TN appears to be about 75 miles away, there is a USAF dojo there; but that may be farther than you're willing to drive (especially in the winter). I grew up in the Appalachian Mountains, they are no fun to drive in during the winter months.

Of course, just because the dojo search came up empty, that doesn't mean there are no Aikido dojo around. Maybe your current sensei could help you locate a new dojo. Good luck with your search.

Alain,

The closest dojo time-wise that are listed on AikiWeb are in Knoxville. One of them is at UT and is USAF-affiliated. The other is affiliated with Gaku Homma's organization, Aikido Nippon Kan.

There are some Tomiki dojo over in North Carolina, but I think they'd be a much longer commute.

There is also a chance that there is a dojo in Johnson City that isn't listed on AikiWeb.

PS: Please tell Baker Sensei that I said "Hi".

Best,

Reuben

I'm also looking for another dojo. I will be finishing my A levels course in June and I will probably be moving to London if everything goes well to either UCL or King's College which is practically next to each other.

Does anyone know of any good Aikido dojos nearby where i can practice regularly? And hopefully they have some proper tatamis(I know of some local dojos here that use tennis courts as a dojo and i think that rather sucks). Does the university itself have an Aikido dojo?
