I'll be going to Sydney next month for two weeks, can anybody recommend a dojo where can I practice during my stay there?

Thanks a lot.

Hi Leon

Try to visit AKI Balmain Dojo. I believe you will find the training method very interesting and alive. Members and instructors very friendly helpful and open.

I will agree with Phillip Smith that Central Coast Aikikai is great place to train, But I am biased as it is my dojo.
Though it is a bit of trip from the heart of Sydney. Our organisation has a dojo in Castle Hill which trains Wednesdays, Fridays & Saturdays. Bill Haynes sensei has a good solid technique & his dojo is an enjoyable place to train.

Sydney has many Dojo's of all styles, maybe if you told us if there was a particular style you are after & where in Sydney you are staying as it is fairly spread out place?

Apart from My organisation, there is also Aikikai Australia, Kenkyukai (great guys to train with BTW), Iwama, Ki Society, Yoshinkan, Yuishinkai & not to mention the many independent dojo's like Terrey Hills dojo.

Let me know what part you are staying in & if you have prefered style & more than happy to point you in the right direction.

If you're interested in trying something new, you can also contact Darren Friend Sensei at Aikido Yoshinkai NSW.

Friend Sensei is a graduate of the Yoshinkai Senshusei course and a former Yoshinkai honbu dojo instructor.

Hi, I am not a student there, but I have had the good fortune of meeting and training with the sensei and one of his students from http://www.sydneyaikido.com.au/ - a shodokan aikido club and they are both wonderful people and two weeks training with them would be a very valuable learning experience and a treat at that! :)
