Hello. I joined the forums page because I have enjoyed reading aikiweb's interesting articles and comments.

I began my study of aikido in 1992 while stationed in Misawa, Japan. I actually went to Japan to further my study of jujutsu, but I was so impressed with what I saw the aikido guys doing, I was hooked right away. Isoyama Sensei was our shihan at that time and he made frequent trips from Iwama to visit our little dojo in Misawa City. I still feel very honored to have been awarded shodan and nidan under him.

Frequent moves during my military career made it difficult for me to advance in rank. I'm not connected with a dojo right now, but I do have a small following I teach from my tiny garage studio. I was hoping to connect with others in a similar situation. I look forward to future discussions.

Welcome to AikiWeb and thank you for your introduction. I had a memorable time at a seminar with Isoyama sensei nearly a decade ago. I think I can still feel his nikyo.
