Hi AikiWeb,

My name is Tom Vernon, I have only recently started Aikido at my local club. I have always been interested in martial arts, but never gotten round to taking one up. I have always been fascinated by Aikido and decided at last to start training. I am fortunate enough to have an Aikido club within a few minutes walk of my house and decided it was the one for me.

My preconceptions of Aikido were that it was not the martial art to take up if you want quick results. After my first lesson I realised I was absolutely correct in my assumption. Instead of putting me off, which I thought it would, it has only increased my interest in Aikido. I feel like I am hooked already, it is amazing to watch the Sensei in action. It is so obvious that technique is all, strength is nothing.

I'm only a newbie so maybe this is just a whim and I'll quit within a month, I have a feeling this won't be the case though.

Seeing the passion of the members of this forum enhances my urge to learn Aikido even more. Hopefully you won't mind me askig all sorts of stupid questions and making a fool of myself (that is the only art I am fluent at currently :) ).

Tom

P.S. I train at The London Aikido Club Iwama Ryu.

Hey there, welcome to the forums. Maybe sometime we can ask you some stupid questions too. ;) I think I can speak for us all, that any questions you have are fine with us. Well, maybe not any question. :p
